What to Expect

When we first work together we’ll  lay the groundwork for all future sessions – by finding a way for you to feel safe enough to proceed. It’s important not to underestimate how necessary that is, especially for those of us who’ve lived through significant trauma –  we need to feel safe enough to explore difficult feelings.

Once those feelings of safety have been identified we’ll use techniques to gently uncover what we’re holding on to in our minds and in our bodies that are keeping us back in some way.  We don’t set an agenda, we see what unfolds and work with what turns up.  Sometimes there is something obvious that wants to be looked at and sometimes it’s more of a sense of unease that wants exploring and other times it’s something else completely!

We always make time for and really honour resistance when it turns up – it’s been doing a great job of keeping you safe for so many years – and we don’t ever push past it. We invite gentle curiosity to see what’s really going on and then we go from there. The resistance is there for a reason, after all.  We always go at a pace that suits you and your body.

About Me

I’m Kim and I’m a certified Kiloby Inquiries facilitator (a trauma-informed somatic mindful enquiry approach) which gently takes us into the body to unearth places of unease and stuckness. 
I have been teaching Zen meditation for over 15 years and self compassion techniques for 9 years.  I’m a  certified forest therapist, currently training as an outdoor adventure therapist and as a breathworks coach.

But my greatest qualification in offering one to ones is that I’m a human being who’s had some significant life experiences – some good and some really not so good. I have walked this walk.

As a result of my own experiences in dealing with addiction and trauma I started www.serenityretreat.co.uk in 2010, running retreats in Greece, then the UK and finally Morocco, to give solo travellers the opportunity to rest, breathe and to check in and become familiar with their mind/body connection.
Consequently, I have been able to hold a safe space, listen with great care, and help people find more ease, for over 15 years.
